Hypotrichosis is term used to describe a person with reduced (hypo) amount of hair (trichosis) growth. Specifically, Hypotrichosis of the eyelash is described as inadequate or not enough eyelashes. Many people (mostly women) are concerned about having eyelashes that are short or intermittent in nature.

There is an FDA approved drug to treat eyelash hypotrichosis called Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution). Bimatoprost ophthalmic was originally developed as an ophthalmic (eye) drop to treat glaucoma (increased eye pressure). However, those patients using this product found that their eyelashes grew thicker and longer.

Latisse is a prescription medication and must be prescribed by a medical doctor. We have had great success prescribing Latisse for our eyelash hypotrichosis patients at MD Skin. Call us at 732-268-7663 to see if you may be a candidate for Latisse.
